Dec 15, 2003 - Welcome
The 2003 seedlist is now available. Some of you contacted me directly and were sent a copy right away. I never seem to have enough time. Please realize this is suppose to be a hobby, not a second job (as I now often feel it has turned into).

The 'Articles' page has a list of all the crosses I've made to-date - the 2003's have been added

I've added a 'Top Ten' page to show you the cream-of-the-crop. Most are F2 sxd hybrids since they are leading edge in terms of bursting beyond existing colour barriors. I wish I could get some of these into your hands right away. Reality is it will still take a few more years before 10,000 to 25,000 of a variety are available to start sales (via Dutch distribution).

Which are your favorite? Drop me a line and let me know what you think.

I know which I like. For example 97-CQ-1 (Sea Green) is quite nice, but it's an unusual [strange] colour. I didn't think most people would be interested in it. When I showed pictures of it to several horticultural groups I was surprised to find a number of people said they found it attractive.

Your comments will give me a clearer idea of which hybrids should be introduced, and whether I should be spending money on lab work to make it happen sooner rather than later.

Sept 15, 2003
This year's hybridizing statistics are now available.

It's been a very busy year. I haven't yet had a chance to update the Juno or Algonquin sections of the web site. That will have to wait until the snow starts to fly and I can't work in the garden any more.

Surplus bulbs sales have continued using my 2002 list.

The seed list will be updated when I have time. Many of the same things will be available. Let me know what you are interested in and I'll see if I can get them off to you.

So many things to do and not enough time...

Here's a difficult task -- pick 9 of this year's very best hybrids to display here for the remainder of the year. ...well I couldn't, so I tried 12, and that's what you see below. At the very least there were really 16.

I was absolutely amazed by what bloomed for the first time in terms of sophenensis x danfordiae (sxd) hybrids. I thought after last year I had a pretty clear idea of what to expect. In fact, I expected to be a bit disappointed because the F2 expression wasn't opening up more. Boy was I surprised! Just look at 98-MN-1, 98-OO-1, 97-BG-1 and the ten 98-NP clones. I believed I faced a big challenge in trying to make crosses different from the types made to-date, in order to open up the expression in 5 year's time. As it turned out, this year's very best hybrids made that job easy.

There were 68 new F2 sxd hybrids (+ Çat Retic), bringing the total to 125. Smile: White's are easy - I now have 36 of them.

So which are your favourites?
